There was a dramatic rescue in a parkland setting on a Saturday afternoon when a dog ended up seriously injured after it was taken out with its owner for a walk. There was cooperation between the authorities and a local mountain rescue to escort the hurt dog safely off a difficult hillside.
Couple’s Walk Turns Into Emergency
The drama started at noon on Saturday when the authorities were requested to come to their aid by a couple taking their pet dog for a walk at an observation point within a natural setting. Their peaceful walk took an ugly turn after their mixed-breed dog hurt its back leg reportedly after a fight with a hole or depression next to a tree.
Mountain Rescue Team Springs into Action
On realization of the treacherous landscape and severity of the injury, the Mountain Rescue Team that specializes in such scenarios was called on the spot immediately. Upon arriving, the rescue team assessed the dog and learned that it sustained a weak back thigh tear with a huge amount of exposed flesh and considerable distress inflicted on the animal.
On-Site First Aid in Treacherous Landscapes
In spite of the remote location and harsh conditions of the hillside, the mountain rescue team personnel were soon able to treat the injured dog. They cleaned the open wound carefully so as not to infect it, and then bandaged its leg carefully to give support and protection coming down.
The Long and Careful Way Down
Having secured the dog’s wound, consideration then turned to safely removing it off the hill. The Mountain Rescue Team took the challenging task of transporting the injured dog a considerable distance down sloping terrain to its owners. This delicate process was one of close coordination to try and preserve the comfort of the dog as well as minimize further injury when coming down.
Successful Return and Relief
Due to the prompt action and professionalism of the Mountain Rescue Team, the dog was rescued from the mountain unharmed and brought back to its relieved owners in good health. Although the degree of the time required for the full recovery of the dog is not yet established, the prompt and swift response of the rescue team at least avoided further agony and enabled it to receive the veterinary care it required.
It’s a reminder that even active animals can be at risk on natural ground walks. It’s also a reminder to the invaluable work of mountain rescue teams, frequently summoned not only to rescue humans but dear pet companions lost in remote areas. The professionalism and skill of the Mountain Rescue Team’s safe return of the dog will be highly appreciated by its owners.
