Animal welfare officers recently saved a six-month-old puppy after some very concerning reports of suspected physical abuse and neglect.
There were reports of harsh confinement
As per the top officer in the animal protection agency, the probe revealed the puppy was purportedly kept caged in a crate within a closet for roughly 10 hours a day and only released twice daily for short toilet breaks.
Physical Injuries and Health Issues Detected:
When the puppy was rescued, a vet examination revealed some soft tissue injury, indicating physical abuse. The puppy was also positive for infection, which indicated dirty living conditions.
Extreme Fear and Trauma Exhibited:
The psychological trauma that the puppy had experienced was evident when it reached the animal protection organization. One manager explained how much fear the puppy had at first and how it did not want to engage with staff.
Gentle Care and Slow Progress:
Workers from the animal protection agency labored slowly to win the trust of the puppy, providing her with treats and giving her a secure crate with a blanket to make her comfortable. They noticed gradual improvements in her behavior over time.
Comfort in a Foster Home:
Realizing the puppy required a more supportive environment, the animal welfare organization placed her in a foster home where she began to settle and heal emotionally.
Adopted and Healing:
The animal welfare organization is pleased to report that the rescued puppy has been adopted and will soon have a permanent, loving home. The adoption will be completed after she fully recovers from her leg injury and undergoes a surgery.
Legal Action Planned Against Previous Owner:
The animal welfare organization is serious about the alleged abuse and will be recommending charges against the puppy’s former owner.
